A premier lacrosse organization in Greater Sacramento, focused on supporting the growth of lacrosse in the community through elite, organized training and game
opportunities.
FOUNDER: Tasha and Stephen McLaughlin, "natives" of the east coast, but "locals" to Sacramento.
BACKGROUND:
As members of the Sacramento community since 2000, we've had the opportunity to see the birth of youth lacrosse in our area. During this time, we've seen the
interest in lacrosse grow from a virtual non-existent state to a fever pitch. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, that same dynamic holds true
in our community as well. As wonderful as the growth has been, given the population and geography of our community, we feel that there is a great opportunity to
provide more.
Growing up on the East Coast, there was never a problem finding a great camp or clinic or tournament, etc. There was never a concern about whether or not those
leading the instruction were experienced enough, or knowledgeable enough. We were blessed with a wealth of both expert tacticians and learning opportunities. It
was a terrific environment in which to learn the game and improve skills. We want to provide that environment to the lacrosse community of Sacramento.
With the exception of the adult men's lacrosse team, lacrosse is still relatively new to the Sacramento Valley. And that "newness" generally means that there is not
enough experienced and knowledgeable teachers who are willing and able to meet the rapidly increasing needs of our lacrosse community. And this is no slight to
those willing to take on this task already. Rather, it is the impetus for Ryquin Lacrosse. Ryquin was developed as a means to support the existing clubs, programs
and coaches throughout the area by providing professional, structured additional instruction, training and game experiences. Ryquin's efforts should supplement
the efforts of the existing clubs and programs, giving our players the most, and best, that we can offer.

Tasha McLaughlin admin@ryquin.com
Founder of Ryquin, CFO
A New Jersey native, Tasha grew up around both men’s and women’s lacrosse. She spent many years around the women’s game, as her sister,
Jada Emery played and starred for the University of Massachusetts. Tasha has served as the team statistician at both the youth level and in the
adult men’s leagues. From 2000-2006 she was the official scorekeeper for the Streets of London men’s team here in Sacramento. She has
experience with stat keeping, scoring, timing penalties and managing the game clock. If Tasha had her choice, “running time” would be the only
option for all games. She has also served multiple terms as the de facto treasurer for the Streets of London team.
Outside of the game, Tasha earned her bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Creatively gifted and
with an eye for detail, she quickly became an award winning lighting designer. However the appeal of finances and traditional work hours drew her
out of design. During her time in Sacramento, Tasha worked in a variety of positions, including accounting, development and event planning. For
the past fifteen years she has worked events for the Sac State Athletics Department Development Office and currently working at the College of
Continuing Education as their Senior Financial Services Coordinator. When not working the books for Ryquin LLC, she is a Certified C.O.P.E.
Health Coach. Although her true around the clock work is with her 12 year old son and 11 year old daughter, with whom she works diligently to
keep them busy with their own Ryquin teams, Lil Fiddlers, Youth Training Camp, Elementary Girls Team and the Wicked Owls.
Steve "Coach Mac" McLaughlin lacrosse@ryquin.com
Founder of Ryquin, Director of Lacrosse Operations
Coach Mac grew up in a lacrosse community just outside of Princeton, New Jersey. After playing varsity for West Windsor - Plainsboro High
School, Steve enrolled at Virginia Tech. His freshman year was a medical redshirt, but Coach Mac recovered to contribute to the successful Hokie
lacrosse team for his remaining three years of college. In addition to serving as Captain and Team President at Virginia Tech, Steve earned
All-Tournament, All-Conference and All-American awards for his play on the field.
After graduation, Coach Mac traveled across the country and settled in Sacramento, California where he quickly joined the local men's team,
Streets of London (aka Sac Brewers). While with Streets, Steve served multiple terms as the club President. Through his affiliation with this
team, Steve met Pete Lee and Pete Winn. As a group, they co-founded the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse Foundation, a local non-profit
organization focused on developing lacrosse in the greater Sacramento community. In 2006, Coach Mac worked with forming the Jesuit High
School varsity lacrosse team with Pete Winn; along with helping the team earn the distinction of 2009 Champions for the Sacramento Valley
Lacrosse Conference. Coach Mac also led the Capital City Lacrosse team in the inaugural and annual Under-19 Lake Tahoe Lacrosse
Tournament.
